BMW Keyless Backup Hide-A-Key

$9.00

Never get stranded by a lost fob again. This stealthy sliding case hides your BMW backup RFID key right on the bike — protected, blended in behind the bodywork, and always there when you need it. Born from years of solo long-distance travel.

Description

Ever have that deep, cold worry about losing your keyless fob — mid-trip, halfway through a BDR, or just somewhere in the house when you need to leave right now? Do you always know where your backup RFID key is? Is it even with you, or was it on the same keychain as the fob that’s now missing?

After years of traveling solo around the country, I started hiding a backup key on the bike, somewhere I could get to it without any keys if I broke or lost the fob. To keep it stealthy and protected, I designed a small sliding case that shields the key and blends in behind bodywork or frame — so the “get out of jail free” card is always right there when you’re out.

Fits

Any 2014+ BMW motorcycle with keyless ignition that uses the standard plastic BMW RFID backup key.

What it is

  • A small 25 × 60 mm two-part sliding box that perfectly fits the BMW plastic backup key
  • Molded in black high-temperature, weather-resistant ASA — so it can sit near warmer parts of the bike or out in the sun
  • Discreet design that blends in behind bodywork, frame, or inside a combination-locked case
  • A slot for a 2 mm zip tie or wire tie to lock the case closed
  • 2 × 1"×1" industrial-strength Velcro squares, pre-applied

How to use it

  1. Slide the BMW key into the case slot.
  2. Slide the cover over the top and secure it with a wire tie or zip tie through the slot. This is critical to keep the box closed. A zip tie is the most secure — just be sure you have a way to cut it when you need the key. I use wire ties, as pictured.
  3. Attach the Velcro to the back (if it didn’t ship already applied).
  4. Pick a discreet, hard-to-spot spot you’ll remember but others won’t — out of sight, and away from rocks, dirt, mud, and the hottest parts of the bike.
  5. Clean that spot with an alcohol wipe (or soap and water) and let it dry. If the surface isn’t clean, the Velcro can let go.
  6. Peel the backing off the bike-side Velcro, press the box into place, and hold firm pressure for 15–30 seconds to set the adhesive.
  7. When you need the key, deliberately pull the box off the Velcro (industrial Velcro is very strong), open the case, and follow your bike’s procedure to start with the RFID key.
